Peninsula Qatar recently published an article in which it revealed that the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) has declared that Qatar would play host to the Gulf T20 Championship later on in this year.
The first ever Gulf T20 Championship will take place from September 13 to September 23 and will be hosted by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA).
This competition will bring together all of the nations that are located in the Gulf.
The Legends League Masters tournament that took place in March 2023 at QCA is the one that holds the record for successfully hosting 60 legends from all over the world.
The Queensland Cricket Association has the ambition of being the rising powerhouse of associate cricket. They hope that by establishing Qatar as one of the greatest places for holding international cricket games, they would be able to capitalize on the rising interest in the sport across the Middle East.
The Gulf Twenty20 Championship will take place over the course of ten days, with sixteen live matches including senior men’s teams from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia in addition to the hosts, Qatar. The tournament will take place in Qatar.
This tournament will be a testament to the strong bond and cooperation of GCC countries in building relationships and to develop the sport in the region. The plan is to make this an annual feature on the global cricket calendar with each country taking up hosting duties on a rotation basis,”
QCA President Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saoud Al Thani said.
The matches are going to be held at the West End International Cricket Stadium, and the live broadcast will be available in nine different countries. This competition will signal a crucial turning point in the history of cricket in this part of the world and is expected to bring about great advancement in this area.
