In March, the High Court requested an explanation from the State Government regarding the issue. The government requested a three-month appointment period for recognized institutions. With the court’s new order, however, 17 institutions that have obtained the Center’s approval can carry out the work without obstruction.
State officials will have to decide whether or not to include these details on the Vahan portal of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act of 2001 mandated the use of high-security license plates.
On December 6, 2018, the federal government issued a directive mandating high-security license plates for all vehicles. On May 9, 2019, the State Vehicle Transport Department also issued a similar circular.
The president of the volunteer organization “Accident Rescue,” Sunil Babu, stated that the order, if implemented, would prevent violations of the vehicle transport law, such as the exploitation of license plates. He stated that this could be implemented in Kerala within three months.
What is a secure license plate?
Before delivering a vehicle to a dealer, the manufacturer affixes plates that cannot be removed or repurposed to the front and rear of the vehicle.
This plate will feature a chromium hologram and seal, as well as a permanent identification number.
