Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Co. (FAMCO), one of the UAE’s top heavy vehicle, construction equipment, and power solution suppliers, ended 2022 with big announcements that drove the company’s development and hinted at its 2023 emphasis.
FAMCO strengthened its position as the UAE’s public transit mobility partner in 2022. FAMCO supplies buses to the RTA Dubai, DOT Abu Dhabi, and SRTA Sharjah bus fleets, hence every UAE public transit commuter utilizes FAMCO.
Commercial vehicles are in demand as the UAE’s economy grows. School buses and distribution trucks from FMCG, logistics, and e-commerce industries have grown at FAMCO. Volvo Trucks account for 27% of the Premium Truck Market and 23% of the Construction Equipment Market for FAMCO.
FAMCO is the sole UAE representative for Volvo trucks, buses, and construction equipment and the exclusive distributor for Eicher, Yanmar, Doosan, Himonisa, AGG, SDLG, Ingersoll Rand, and Linde, with a fleet of over 9,000 vehicles.
FAMCO will launch the region’s first electric heavy-duty Volvo vehicle in 2023 to decarbonize road transport.
Volvo electric buses also completed a six-month UAE passenger trial last year. The models have been fast-charged in Dubai and evaluated for the local terrain, performing with zero-emissions and zero-noise. They will soon be a milestone in the country’s smart transportation and future mobility.
FAMCO, Al-Futtaim Automotive, ended 2022 with two major wins.
FAMCO inked a substantial agreement to provide Volvo FM trucks to MICCO Logistics, a renowned UAE logistics company and fleet operator that is part of the AD Ports Group’s Logistics Cluster. Volvo Trucks now owns 20% of MICCO’s fleet.
FAMCO’s value-add services and Volvo Trucks’ quality and performance helped MICCO choose FAMCO. To streamline fleet administration, monitoring, maintenance, and customer support, the truck provider will build Uptime Centre capabilities at MICCO.
FAMCO also won significant industry awards in 2022, highlighting its achievements. FAMCO earned Distributor of the Year, Volvo 7900 won Bus of the Year, Hino 300 won Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year, and Volvo Trucks won Outstanding Manufacturer.
