Lance Dewease won a Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions feature for the second time in three nights on Sunday night at the Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway.
Dewease, who won the Williams Grove Doug Esh Tribute just two nights prior, won $20,000 by leading all 29 circuits of the Weikert main event. It was Dewease’s 46th All Star victory in his career and his 122nd victory at the half-mile track.
Sunday evening’s race was disrupted by only one caution, which occurred on lap 18. Lance Dewease’s nearly five-second advantage was wiped out by a change in momentum, and he was ultimately forced to hold off Mike Wagner and Bob Weikert Memorial night one victor Anthony Macri.
The earnings of Dominant Dewease are $29,000.
Macri, who started ninth, surged to second position immediately after the restart, but a clear path and pure air enabled Dewease to maintain control.
“Well, I was aware of where both Anthony Macri and Mike Wagner desired to run. Probably the most anxious I’ve ever been at the beginning of a raceā¦”I just wasn’t sure if I had enough for these guys,” said Dewease. “I wanted to ensure that I didn’t pursue automobiles that had passed me too closely. Luckily, we made it here.
Dewease added, “Having Davey Brown with us tonight is very special.” “For his age, he works incredibly hard on this race car, as does everyone. These men have revitalized my career, and we intend to ride this tide as long as possible.”
Anthony Macri finished second at the Juniata County Fairgrounds, behind Wagner, Danny Dietrich, and Devon Borden, despite utilizing every inch of Port Royal’s outer perimeter.
This late caution was beneficial, but not sufficient. “I knew Lance would take off once he reached clean air,” Macri said. “I attempted to sprint up the mountain as quickly as possible. In the end, I simply wasn’t close enough to do anything. We’ll pause for a moment and be proud.”
